Oh. I'm so happy. Thank you to my second follower. I was feeling a little down because I didn't know how people would find me and someone else did. I can't wait to see who it is.
The last two days have started out gloomy and turned into pure sunshine. The gardens are loving the light and the gradual warmth. It will certainly be summer soon.
Happy June.

Happy last day of May. The weather is lovely... cool and sunny.
Think I'll go to the Ontario Mall Antiques in Canadandiagua to pick up a few brochures... and shop for more fruit juice glasses. The Mall has 1,000 dealers. It's so fun to browse through the Mall. I'll let you know what else I come back with.
Have a great Sunday!

The sun is out. A gorgeous day. The clematis by the Barn Suite just took off. There must be 30 blooms. I'll add a photo tomorrow. I think that's the most I've ever seen on that plant. And, the ferns in the semi-private Barn Suite gardens are at least five feet tall. I didn't plant them there.
Three out of the four men guests this weekend are all Mikes. That's never happened before.

Tried a new recipe today and I think we have a winner. It's a savory, stuffed French Toast. I stuffed the French Toast with sauteed sweet peppers, Vidalia onion and baby bella mushrooms and feta. Then soakd the Challa bread in egg with fresh thyme. I used a little Hollandaise sauce instead of syrup. I had some friends over and we all enjoyed a new dish. I think I might try stuffing a few slices of Canadian Bacon in there as well. Can't wait to serve it to guests.

Still only one follower. Wonder how long it takes to get followers? No worries. I'll keep writing.
We are having a little rainy weather. After 10 days of sunshine, we need it. I never have to water the amazing gardens at the Inn so I'm happy for the rain. Everything seems so clean. And, I love the thunder storms. At first, they intimidated me a little, but now, it's amazing to watch the sky light up. I suppose it's earth's shower. It just needs one now and then.
Have one room for Friday and one room, the Barn Suite for Friday and Saturday this weekend. Join us.

Hope your Memorial Day was great. Did you know that the birthplace of Memorial Day is Waterloo, New York (just about 30 minutes from the 1795 Acorn Inn)?
A quick observation: I recently quoted a price for a stay. When I confirmed the reservation, I confirmed it at a price slightly higher than quoted. The guest emailed me to bring it to my attention. Of course I honored the lower, wrong price. However, it's interesting to me that when I underscharge someone, it is never brought to my attention. I can't say that I would bring that to someone's attention if I were undercharged... all the time. But I have in the past.
Today the exterminator is coming to spray for bees and wasps and spiders...
Have a great day!

Thanks Eliott Sousa for joining my blog.
No moaning today. Just a note to say that if you are a member of facebook, search for the 1795 Acorn Inn. There is a fan page with so many photos. And, I'm still uploading. Today I will upload an album of fall foliage.
Last night I went to Eddie O'Brien's in town for dinner after all guests had checked in. Had some good potato skins.

Good morning again. Colleen from South Maryland wanted to let you all know that when you taste wine, drink lots of water. Her advice from her recent stay with us and her adventures tasting wine along Seneca and Keuka Lakes. Good advice. One can get carried away with all the wineries in the Finger Lakes. I, myself, can taste at three or four wineries on any given day. Then I'm done. But, I have had some guests taste at up to eight wineries in one day. Now that's a lot of tasting. Enjoy.

Good Morning to no one as I haven't any followers yet. In time. Yesterday was 80 degrees and sunny. Today a little warmer. I attended our annual literature exchange yesterday and picked up the brochures I use to help guests enjoy the area. They are already in the brochure rack and ready for guests. Things are picking up quickly.
One thing I want to make people aware of so as to appropriately set expectations. In this day of immediate gratification, it's important to know that we do not have someone sitting at a front desk waiting for your call or your arrival. We are a very small army taking care of this Inn. Mostly, it's me. I answer the phone. I greet guests. I serve breakfast. I do all the shopping and ordering. I process all the reservations... you get the idea. I do have some help with cleaning the rooms (my least favorite thing to do but once in a while I have to get in there and make sure everything is being done to our high standards of cleanliness) and laundry, but it's mostly me. I try to get to the phone, but if I'm serving breakfast, checking guests in or chatting with guests, I can't break away. So, just leave a message. I promise, I return most phone calls with in 24 hours (If I don't, I have a reason). It will be worth your wait.

It's a gorgeous day. A little chilly. But, I'd rather see spring hang in there than summer hit us full force. The gardens are particularly beautiful this time of the year and I will try to add some photos soon. But the lilacs are in full bloom and their scent just fabulous.

Today I start a blog. My intent is to share things about the 1795 Acorn Inn that guests or potential guests may not know. Perhaps share some insights into Innkeeping (for those of you who fancy themselves Innkeepers), pet peeves (a chance for me to vent in a positive nature), guests stories (names will be changed to protect the guilty) or other stories and general happenings at the Inn. I promise to try to keep it interesting.
